PTC systems vary widely in complexity and sophistication based on the multiple factors involved. Whilst PTC deployment will deliver a safer and more efficient American rail network, it will come at a cost - potentially up to $10 billion. These variable factors add to the key challenge of not only meeting the 2015 deadline for migration to PTC, but also doing so in a time and cost-efficient manner.

There is a clear need for the industry to meet at a specialised forum, to discuss the financial, strategic, technical and operational challenges of migrating to PTC.
